Music for Plants


Music for Plants is an interactive video installation that stages an engagement between viewer and alien entity, envisioned through the visual language of the Oceanic. This piece serves as a vignette within a larger arc exploring the formation of relations with the unknown— alien encounter, as such. It invites frequencies of time and relation that include the trans-species and trans-spatial. This work emerges from the project Reality Was Whatever Happened: Octavia Butler AI and Other Possible Worlds (B. Coleman, 2023). Music for Plants sound “motor beatdown,” from Pink Noise (Singe & Verb).
